Windshield Camera Recalibration
Most people are aware of the standard features that come with a new car these days, but many are not familiar with the advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS. These systems use sensors to monitor the surroundings and provide warnings or even take action to prevent an accident. lane departure warning system, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, forward collision alert, and blind spot monitoring are all examples of ADAS features. If any of these sensors are disturbed during a windshield replacement, it is important to have the system recalibrated. This will ensure that the system is functioning properly and can help avoid accidents. Next time you get your windshield replaced, be sure to ask about having your ADAS system recalibrated. It could be the difference between a close call and a serious accident.

There are two types of recalibration: static and dynamic. Static recalibration is when the entire system is reset to the factory settings. Dynamic recalibration is when specific parts of the system are reset, based on data from sensors that monitor tire pressure, brake pad wear, and so on. The type of recalibration that your vehicle needs will depend on the year, make, and model. Some newer vehicles have dynamic recalibration as a standard feature, while older ones may require static recalibration. If you're not sure which type of recalibration your vehicle needs, consult your owner's manual or take it to a certified dealership or service center.
Once the calibration is completed to OEM specifications the technician will print out a report that is a requirement for payment by your insurance carrier and a copy will be kept with you for your records.
